In dense figured mahogany, the table is raised on reeded sabre legs terminating in brass box castors and with molded supports united by turned stretchers. The top is adjustable by means of a ratchet, has a removable book rest and candle slides to either side. In very good condition. 760mm high (variable), 610mm wide and 460mm deep. English. Circa 1815.

A similar table was made for 2nd Baron Bolton, Hackwood Park, Hampshire in 1813. In addition, many of the room setting drawings, now in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, shows a piece of identical form in situ.
